Welcome Winter

Just as November's comings to an end, the snow has started falling, paving the way for what looks to be a rather chilly December. Naturally the country has ground to a halt and it is the only thing people can seem to talk about. Whilst trying to remain positive about the large dump of cold outside my front door, i came across this photo taken on Christmas day last year. It was the most perfect day for a brisk walk in the countryside, working up an appetite for the monstrous amount of food that was to follow. I hope this year's Christmas day weather is similar, i would love to do that again. Welcome winter.

Encore

Last night i went to see The National play at the Academy, it was pretty wonderful. The support (Phosphorescent) played really well, and then the National came on and made everyone melt. The frontman Matt Berninger has such a deep, lovely voice. They came on for an encore and for the final song, they asked everyone to be silent as they were going to try and play a song without microphones. You could have heard a pin drop, it began so quietly, and then the crowd softly started joining in (bizarrely in tune) and got louder and louder. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room, it was beautiful. My friend happened to record it, it doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea.

Project 2.2 Final

It's been extremely busy here since i got back from NY, haven't had much time to think about blogging or anything else for that matter. Yesterday i handed in my 4 final pieces for project 2.2, they were 4 prints made using letterpress. I spent hours and hours in their earlier this week trying to perfect them, and have gone through more paper than i care to think about. Anyway, here are my two favourites...

Project 2.2

Just a first rough draft of how my project might end up looking. Would love to take this into letterpress.

Consider this a sneak preview

Red & Blue

I think i'm slightly addicted to design using just these two colours, why does it look so appealing?? I'm trying to find a good enough reason to use red & blue for my final piece, i'm hoping i'll maybe go down the letterpress route.  Watch this space.

Home Again

Back from my New York adventure, completely worn out and in need of a few days recuperation, sadly everything's full steam ahead so i'll just have to keep my head down and power on. I though NY was a fantastically diverse city, my head's been on a 360 degree rotation for five days, there was so much to look at in every direction. We walked pretty much all day every day so i hope that counteracted the vast amount of food we ate...probably not, we did eat a silly amount. Here are a few snaps of my favourite bit, Central Park - the weather was perfect and the leaves were beautiful, we even took a picnic there one day for lunch.

No Sleep Till Brooklyn

There will be an absense of blogging for the coming week as i am flitting off to New York with the Man Candy tomorrow, i'm giddy with excitement i can't stay still. I don't know how near an internet connection i'll be, but if i can, i'll post some lovely photos of our trip. See you soon xxx

Exhibition Space

Yesterday morning i went to the Art Cafe and put my exhibition pieces up. It was a nice morning of white paint, dodgy ladders and coffee. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's work up.

Exhibition opens on the 11th November.

What Do You Consider Fun?

Research for my current project...
I'm asking people what they consider fun, a line from The Tom Tom Club's 'Genius of Love'.

What do you consider fun??

Info-Graphics

My current project is all about mapping and info-graphics, so i thought i'd share some of the fairly lovely ways of presenting data we've been shown recently...

How fantastic is this?? Shakespeare's Hamlet in diagram form.

Photo'clock

Last Christmas i got given this photo clock, and it's taken till now to get it up. I still haven't decided on what photos to put in it yet,  just though i'd share.
