'Papped'
Whilst gadding about in Barcelona this last week, my friend Fran and I got photographed for Italian Vogue's website. How nice!

Art School Bloc
**New Brief**
We got given a live brief this morning for a project that's to run over two weeks.
"Following the success of the opening of the NY Flagship store in April 2009, Topman are now excited about launching a store in Chicago. The Brief is to develop a creative based on the trend 'Art School Bloc' which will be used across various marketing tools to engage new customers and drive brand interest leading up to and during the opening of the store."

Wardrobe Overhaul
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes-Of shirts-and lace trimmed things
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes-Of shirts-and lace trimmed things
And wooly jumpers-and tapered trousers-and tailored jackets
And..Ah it must be time for the pre-autumn/winter season wardrobe overhaul. It's an exciting and daunting prospect, and yet it must be done. This months Vogue arrived on our kitchen table and got me far too excited about clothes i can't afford. I've got quite a bit of work lined up over the next few weeks and so i will be letting myself purchase one or two nice things, on the condition that i have gotten rid of a whole lot more. It's been so long since i've done a full scale culling session (have i ever really done one?) that i'm going to have to start right at the basics, knickers, socks, tights, and work my way through.

Muse of the Day
Or muses actually. I watched 'The Edge of Love' last night with an old friend. The film itself wasn't groundbreaking but at the end we both agreed that Keira Knightley and Seinna Miller are both spectacular beings. April Ferry was the costume designer for the film, i would like her to design my life.
I'd like to surround myself with cable knit cardigans and wooly knee high socks with wellington boots. It's a real shame i can't wear that shade of yellow without looking unwell.
I think the most striking feature throughout the film was the red lipstick Knightley's character wore. I may have to treat myself to a Tom Ford one, although i imagine there's an art to applying it so flawlessly. I don't know how well i could pull off the loose curls, but they may be worth a go too. I absolutely loved everything about the design in this film, costume, set and music.

Muse Of The Day
Helena Bonham-Carter in 'A Room With A View'
I watched the film at the weekend and was so taken with the grace of HB-C, i hardly took notice of the plot. I absolutely loved the costumes and found myself making mental notes on how i could bring her character's style into my own wardrobe, with a modern twist of course. As much as i would enjoy ambling down the road in a bustle, daft hat and lace gloves, i think i may get more funny looks than normal. I will be reading the book over the Easter hols, i might take it as reading material for Rome actually, after all it is set in Italy (not quite Rome but nevermind). Definitely watch the film though, look out for the scene where three men leap around by a pond, stark naked. Much mirth was had by all.
I love the detail of the clothes, the tiny waists, the tailoring and dainty parasols. I would very much like parasols to make a come back this Spring/Summer actually.

Dresses
There is an event that happens every May, that i have been to for the last 6 years. It takes up a whole weekend, but a whole year of planning. I'm lucky enough to get to help on the day setting up and sorting things out. I enjoy it so much as i see people i don't normally get to, and stay in a lovely hotel...but what i love most is choosing a dress for the occasion. I've started browsing around for a few potential dresses and found a few really lovely ones...
I absolutely love this one above by Ted Baker
I think i'm looking at items a little out of my price range but it's nice to look. The colours i'm leaning towards at the moment are black, cream, red and pink. Suggestions welcome.
